gloEUrope attended for the first time BOOT at Düsseldorf as exhibitor. We found shelter at the BMWi booth in hall 15 A41.12. In our probably smallest booth of the whole BOOT 2011 we demonstrated in our darkroom glow in the dark rope locker labels, cordage and fenders. About Wednesday our stock was solod out and we had to reorder products.
Our impression in general: Better than expected. We were surprised about the number of visitors. Not a small investment but then again, the BOOT is the place to shop for a new vessel. The industry feels a fresh breeze; only the sailing offspring is missing, as it was heard.
Our special impression: We made very good contacts, e few European dealers are interested in carrying our product line, ideas for product improvement, and new product ideas were generated, which are in the works.
Impressions on the side: Hall 15 offered for exhibitors with small crews and not much time not the best culinary gratification. Curry Wurst is of course a great thing, but NOT EVERY DAY. We survived the day with cookies and fruits and went for Asian dinner, preferably. IPhone and Google guided (total zeitgeist) us to the Restaurant MEKONG. This was not a one timer! "Mama Mekong" and her Family gave us a great reception and served excellent Thai and Laos’s meals. Across the street, we discovered the Vietnamese Restaurant Khanh’s Lilly which provides excellent food and friendly service.
And finally our summary: The concept of an exhibition like BOOT in comparison with a „virtual show“ in the internet is absolutely relevant for us, despite our online sales orientation.
